DURANT, Okla. (April 1, 2020) – Dozens of eggs, hundreds of pounds of assorted cheeses, fresh fruits and vegetables were donated to the Grayson County Shelter by Choctaw Casino & Resort – Durant this week.

The perishable food was distributed to the Grayson County Shelter to help more than 250 families in the local community.

“The homeless population in Grayson County is a real issue and it’s great to see our community come together during a time like this,” states Sheila Penn, Executive Director, Grayson County Shelter. “Our shelter heavily relies on donation items and we’re grateful to Choctaw Casino & Resort – Durant and its donation.”

Food was given to the Grayson County shelter, then distributed to Refuge for Hope and Feed My Sheep, charities that regularly support the counties disadvantaged and homeless population.

“We are happy to donate to the deserving women and men who are undergoing unprecedented circumstances,” states Randy Crawford, Executive Director of Food and Beverage. “After the decision was made to temporarily suspend our operations, Choctaw Casino & Resort – Durant was glad to be able to donate to those who need it the most and not let the food go to waste.”
