Queensrÿche is an American progressive metal band formed in 1980 in Bellevue, Washington. Known for their intricate musicianship, powerful vocals, and thought-provoking lyrics, the band helped define the sound of 1980s and 1990s progressive and melodic metal. Their 1988 concept album Operation: Mindcrime and 1990’s Empire—featuring the hit single “Silent Lucidity”—earned them critical acclaim and commercial success. Over the years, Queensrÿche’s sound has evolved, blending metal, rock, and experimental elements while maintaining their signature sophistication. Despite lineup changes, the band continues to record and tour, remaining a respected force in modern metal.
