After catapulting to stardom in Kid Rock’s band, the Michigan singer, songwriter, and performer, also known as Matthew Shafer, kicked off a stunning solo career of his own in 2000. Shafer recorded his first solo album, “Double Wide,” and it went double platinum and produced the No. 1 hit “Follow Me.” His 2002 follow-up album “No Stranger To Shame,” had the cover of Dobie Gray’s “Drift Away” which set a Billboard record for most weeks at No. 1 on any chart. Since then, Uncle Kracker has released a several singles and three more albums. His latest single, “Floatin'” was released last summer.
